Joint Injections | Side Effects | Pain After Injection

Joint injections can be used in various different ways. Sometimes the injection is given with an anti inflammation steroid drug. Sometimes viscosupplementation treatment with synvisc, orthovisc or durolane can be given. It's really all a matter of trying to match the needs of the patient with the best injection for them.

Aspirin | Breast Cancer | Treatment With Aspirin

New researchs seems to show that taking aspirin every day reduces the risk of cancer coming back in women who have had breast cancer treatment.
The study was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology - a respected cancer journal - and shows that the women who were taking low dose aspirin every day had about a 70 per cent reduction in the risk of recurrent cancer or of dying from their cancer.
There may also be evidence that other anti inflammation drugs do the same thing.
The researchers don't know why aspirin behaves like this but plan to do more research shortly

Verruca on foot | Lemon Oil | Wart Treatment

My son has a verruca wart on his left foot.
It's right on the sole of the foot and hurts him when he walks. He is four years old.

I looked at pictures online and I think it's a verruca wart.

What's the best treatment for this?
Should I buy one of those ointments from a drugstore? What about freezing spray treatments for warts - will that be OK if he is only four years old?

My sister said that using lemon oil like they use for aromatherapy will be a good idea but I don't want to burn his skin with it.

I'd be grateful for advice - thanks

Blood pressure | Red eye | Blood in eye

Can a problem with blood pressure cause a red patch to appear in the eye?

I woke up this morning with a red blotch on the white bit of my eye. It looks like there's blood in the eye. Is this caused by blood pressure?

I take meds for blood pressure so sometimes my pressure is too low, other times it's too high.

Do I need to see a doctor or an eye specialist for a check over? Also - I've been wondering about buying a blood pressure monitor so maybe now is a good time to do that and then I can check my own blood pressure at home.

Thanks

Robert

Autistic Spectrum | Autism | Epilepsy and Fits

Is it usual for a child with autistic spectrum disorder to develop epilepsy?

This question was submitted by a reader using the box on the right. Can you help answer it? Leave a comment below:

Most autistic spectrum disorder sufferers do not have seizures, fits or convulsions. But if they have an underlying brain disorder then they may suffer from them. Some studies estimate the rate of epilepsy or convulsions in autism sufferers as around 15%.

Others quote a higher percentage incidence that that - particularly when types of epilepsy that do not cause classic convulsions are included.

Letrozole joint pains | breast cancer joints sore

Has anyone else had joint pains caused by letrozole treatment. My friend takes Arimidex and I have been given Femara or Letrozole.

My joints are sore all the time. No swelling - just aches and pains and stiffness every day.

Is this due to my breast cancer treatment? What should I do? Do I need to stop or change to another kind of medication - my oncologist says I need treatment for five years but these pains are terrible.

Any ideas about what to do ?

Toe nail ingrowing | painful toe

I think I have an ingrowing toe nail. The nail is all red and angry at the edge of it and there is a kind of yellow pus stuff coming out.

My toe is agony when I touch it.

What should I do. Is this whats called an in growing toe nail - my brother says it is but I'm worried in case the doc wants to do an operation or something.

Pain from neck down arm

Can a pain from my neck go down my left arm?

I've had a sore neck for about a week and it now seems to be spreading down my left arm towards my hand. Also had pins and needles in my hand during the night last night - woke me up from sleeping.

Never had this before but it feels like a cold chill down from the neck into my arm.
Does this need a neck x-ray or something

Itch on my leg | Right leg rash

I have an itch down the back of my right leg all the time.

What could this be. The skin looks red and there seems to be a kind of blotchy rash with prickly feelings over it.

I tried cream from the pharmacy but this only made it seem hot and burny. What should I do.

Do I need blood tests for a rash like this

Pain when passing urine | Red colour

I need some advice. I have pain when peeing and my urine is a kind of red colour.

Is this anything to be worried about?

Will redness in the urine mean that I have an infection or could it be something like cancer in the kidney or the bladder. My dad had prostate problems but I'm not sure if it affects me too.

What should I do?
